Beyond Scotland
| True’s Yard Fisherfolk Museum Kings Lynn, Norfolk The King’s Lynn Fisherfolk Museum (Norfolk, England) is a heritage centre that brings the historic North End to life through immersive displays—including a Tudor‑era town model, a detailed 3D reconstruction of the old streets, authentic fishing gear, preserved fisherfolk cottages, a restored 19th‑century smokehouse, and a working smithy. It celebrates the daily lives, trades, and community of King’s Lynn’s fishing families from the 1800s to the present. Since the 1875 fishing disaster, which claimed 37 men from the East Neuk, St Monans has been linked forever with King’s Lynn, whose townspeople ensured the honourable burial of the St Monans fishermen, forging a lasting bond between the two communities. Though geographically distant, St Monans and King’s Lynn share a deep, centuries‑old connection to the rhythms and hardships of a fishing way of life. |
